Area Information

What is the fare for the Mackinac Bridge?

As of January 1, 2013, the fare for the Bridge is $4.00 per passenger vehicle or $2.00 per axle. For all other vehicles the fare is $5.00 per axle.

Can we bring the family pet?

PetsPets travel FREE on Shepler’s! Please keep them on a leash or in a cage for the duration of the ride to and from Mackinac Island.

Mackinac Island is very pet friendly, but be sure to keep your dogs and cats on a leash and attend to them at all times.   Please also make sure that your pets are comfortable with horses, because we don’t want the pets to spook our main form of transportation!

Pets are welcome on Mackinac Island Carriage Tours. If your dog can be carried on your lap, he or she can enjoy the tour for free. If you have a larger dog that will take up the space of one seat, you will have to pay for a child’s ticket, which is fitting since dogs are our babies, too!

If you plan to enjoy one of the fine eateries on Mackinac Island, your pet will have to wait outside. Please contact the Mackinac Island Tourist Bureau at 1-800-4LILACS for information on Island dog walkers.

If you are staying in Mackinaw City, you can leave your pet for the day at Trails End Kennel. Call 231-436-7334 to make a reservation.
